About Abaco Systems
Abaco Systems makes rugged embedded computing boards and systems for defense, aerospace and industrial customers, including products that process radio signals directly. It was formed in 2015 when Veritas Capital bought the embedded computing business of GE Intelligent Platforms, and it is based in Huntsville, Alabama. AMETEK acquired it from Veritas for 1.35 billion dollars in cash, and the deal closed in April 2021. It now sits inside AMETEK's Electronic Instruments Group.

What Abaco Systems works on
FPGAs
An FPGA, or field-programmable gate array, is a chip whose internal wiring can be changed after it is made. It contains a grid of small logic blocks, memory blocks and programmable connections. Loading a new configuration file, called a bitstream, turns it into a different digital circuit.
DSPs
A DSP, or digital signal processor, is a processor built to handle streams of real-world data such as audio, radio signals and sensor readings. It takes samples from an analog-to-digital converter and filters, compresses or analyses them in real time.
