About Google Quantum AI

Google Quantum AI is the quantum computing research division of Google, not a separate company. It designs superconducting quantum processors and works on quantum error correction, which spreads information across many physical qubits to catch mistakes. Its Sycamore chip underpinned a 2019 claim of quantum supremacy, and its Willow chip, announced in 2024, showed error rates falling as the error-correcting code grew. The lab was launched in 2013 and has its hardware facility in Goleta, near Santa Barbara, California.

Google Quantum AI was founded in 2013 and is based in Santa Barbara, CA, United States. It is listed under Quantum Computing.

What Google Quantum AI works on

Quantum Computing

A quantum computer is a machine that uses the rules of quantum physics to process information. Its basic unit is the qubit. A classical bit is either 0 or 1. A qubit can be in a superposition, a state that combines both, and its measured result is probabilistic.
