About MemComputing

San Diego company founded by physicists Fabio Traversa and Massimiliano Di Ventra and entrepreneur John Beane, built on memcomputing, a physics-based approach to optimization problems. It now markets a compute architecture called MEMAI aimed at lower-power AI inference. It said in November 2024 that its Series A had closed.

MemComputing was founded in 2016 and is based in San Diego, CA, United States. It is listed under In-Memory Computing, Analog Computing. Reported funding is Series A (Nov 2024); $5M exempt offering filed Jan 2026.

What MemComputing works on

In-Memory Computing

In-memory computing does calculations inside or right next to the memory that stores the data, instead of copying the data to a separate processor. It is also called processing-in-memory (PIM) or compute-in-memory.

Analog Computing

Analog computing represents numbers as continuous physical quantities, such as voltage or current, rather than as strings of 0s and 1s. The physics of the circuit does the calculation. For example, Ohm's law and Kirchhoff's current law let a grid of resistors multiply and add numbers at once.
