About XMOS
XMOS designs xcore multicore microcontrollers, small processors that put several cores on one chip so that audio, control and AI tasks can run together without extra dedicated hardware. Its products cover USB and multichannel audio, voice processing such as the XVF3800 and xcore.ai for edge AI, and in 2025 it began calling the line a Generative System-on-Chip. XMOS is a private company founded in Bristol, UK, in 2005, where it is still headquartered, and its investors include Infineon and Bosch.
XMOS was founded in 2005 and is based in Bristol, UK, United Kingdom. It is listed under Edge Computing, DSPs.

What XMOS works on
Edge Computing
Edge computing means processing data close to where it is produced, on a device or a nearby server, instead of sending everything to a distant cloud data center. In chip terms, edge processors are small, low-power chips that run software and AI models inside phones, cameras, cars and sensors.
DSPs
A DSP, or digital signal processor, is a processor built to handle streams of real-world data such as audio, radio signals and sensor readings. It takes samples from an analog-to-digital converter and filters, compresses or analyses them in real time.
