About EdgeQ
EdgeQ designs a single chip that combines the radio processing of a 5G base station with AI processing, which it calls a Base Station-on-a-Chip. A base station is the equipment that links phones to a mobile network, and putting 5G and AI on one chip lets operators run machine learning at the network edge without separate hardware. The design uses RISC-V and Arm processor cores and targets small cells, macro cells and private 5G networks. EdgeQ was founded in 2018 and is based in Santa Clara, California, with offices in San Diego and Bangalore.

What EdgeQ works on
Edge Computing
Edge computing means processing data close to where it is produced, on a device or a nearby server, instead of sending everything to a distant cloud data center. In chip terms, edge processors are small, low-power chips that run software and AI models inside phones, cameras, cars and sensors.
AI Accelerators
An AI accelerator is a chip, or a part of a chip, designed to run machine learning faster or with less energy than a general-purpose processor. The category includes GPUs, TPUs, neural processing units (NPUs) and chips from many startups.
