About Fractile

Fractile is a London company building chips for running trained AI models, known as inference. It places the arithmetic for matrix calculations directly inside memory, next to the stored model weights, to avoid the delay and energy cost of fetching them from separate memory. The design uses SRAM, a fast on-chip memory, rather than external DRAM. Fractile was founded in 2022 by Walter Goodwin, who studied at the University of Oxford, and it has teams in London and Bristol working on test chips.

Fractile was founded in 2022 and is based in London, United Kingdom. It is listed under In-Memory Computing. Reported funding is $220M (May 2026).

What Fractile works on

In-Memory Computing

In-memory computing does calculations inside or right next to the memory that stores the data, instead of copying the data to a separate processor. It is also called processing-in-memory (PIM) or compute-in-memory.
