About LightSolver
LightSolver builds a Laser Processing Unit, a computing device that uses coupled lasers rather than transistors to search for good answers to hard optimisation problems and to solve some equations. Because the lasers interact in parallel as light, the approach differs from both conventional chips and quantum machines. The company was founded in 2020 by Ruti Ben-Shlomi, who is chief executive, and Chene Tradonsky, both physicists from the Weizmann Institute, and it is based in Tel Aviv, Israel.
LightSolver was founded in 2020 and is based in Tel Aviv, Israel. It is listed under Photonic Computing. Reported funding is Boeing strategic financial partnership (April 2026).

What LightSolver works on
Photonic Computing
Photonic computing uses light instead of electricity to carry or process information. Photons have no charge, so light in a waveguide does not cause the resistive heating that current in a wire does, though lasers and modulators still use power, and many wavelengths can share one waveguide. The industry has two quite different parts: moving data with light, and computing with light.
