About MediaTek
MediaTek is a fabless chip company, meaning it designs processors but leaves manufacturing to outside foundries. It is known for smartphone system-on-chip processors such as the Dimensity series, and also makes modems, Wi-Fi chips and chips for televisions. A system-on-chip puts the processor cores, graphics, modem and other parts on one piece of silicon. MediaTek was spun off from United Microelectronics Corporation in 1997, is headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan, and has been listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange since 2001.

What MediaTek works on
Edge Computing
Edge computing means processing data close to where it is produced, on a device or a nearby server, instead of sending everything to a distant cloud data center. In chip terms, edge processors are small, low-power chips that run software and AI models inside phones, cameras, cars and sensors.
AI Accelerators
An AI accelerator is a chip, or a part of a chip, designed to run machine learning faster or with less energy than a general-purpose processor. The category includes GPUs, TPUs, neural processing units (NPUs) and chips from many startups.
