About Qubitcore

Qubitcore builds quantum computers based on trapped ions, which are charged atoms held in place by electromagnetic fields and used as qubits, the basic units of quantum information. Its design combines the ion traps with micro-optical cavities, small mirror structures intended to let ions exchange information through photons. The company says this approach offers high-fidelity gates, flexible connectivity and long coherence times, meaning accurate operations and qubits that keep their state for longer. Its website states that it works in collaboration with the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology.

Qubitcore was founded in 2024 and is based in Yokohama, Japan. It is listed under Quantum Computing. Reported funding is JPY 1.53B (~$9.6M) seed (April 2026).

What Qubitcore works on

Quantum Computing

A quantum computer is a machine that uses the rules of quantum physics to process information. Its basic unit is the qubit. A classical bit is either 0 or 1. A qubit can be in a superposition, a state that combines both, and its measured result is probabilistic.
