About SemiQon

SemiQon is a Finnish company building silicon-based quantum hardware. Its SemiQit product is a set of silicon quantum dot devices for research, where a quantum dot traps a single electron and the electron's spin can serve as a qubit, the basic unit of quantum computing. It also offers cryo-optimised CMOS circuits, which are ordinary chip technology adapted to work at very low temperatures to help scale up quantum machines. Quantum processor chips are listed on its site as coming soon. A news item on its site calls it Espoo-based, and this directory describes it as a spinout from VTT.

SemiQon was founded in 2023 and is based in Espoo, Finland. It is listed under Quantum Computing. Reported funding is €17.5M (2025, equity + EIC grant).

What SemiQon works on

Quantum Computing

A quantum computer is a machine that uses the rules of quantum physics to process information. Its basic unit is the qubit. A classical bit is either 0 or 1. A qubit can be in a superposition, a state that combines both, and its measured result is probabilistic.
