About SiPhox Health

SiPhox Health is better known as a health testing company than a computing one. It builds a benchtop blood analyser around a silicon photonic chip, which uses light guided through tiny channels etched in silicon to detect biomarkers in a small sample. The company also sells mail-in blood tests that use approved laboratory methods. The chip-based device has not been cleared by the US FDA and is used for research. SiPhox was founded in 2020 by Diedrik Vermeulen and Michael Dubrovsky, who met at MIT, and is based in Burlington, Massachusetts.

SiPhox Health was founded in 2020 and is based in Burlington, MA, United States. It is listed under Photonic Computing. Reported funding is Series A2 ongoing (LongeVC).

What SiPhox Health works on

Photonic Computing

Photonic computing uses light instead of electricity to carry or process information. Photons have no charge, so light in a waveguide does not cause the resistive heating that current in a wire does, though lasers and modulators still use power, and many wavelengths can share one waveguide. The industry has two quite different parts: moving data with light, and computing with light.
