About Zettascale Computing

Zettascale Computing, formerly Exa Laboratories, designs reconfigurable AI chips it calls XPUs. The chip adapts its internal dataflow to each model, keeping data near the compute units to reduce the energy spent moving it. Its Grasshopper design, which the company says was developed with AI agents, has been run end to end on an FPGA, a chip whose circuits can be rewired after manufacture, and a custom silicon version has yet to ship. Zettascale was founded in 2024 by Elias Almqvist and Prithvi Raj, took part in Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch and is based in San Francisco.

Zettascale Computing was founded in 2024 and is based in San Francisco, CA, United States. It is listed under AI Accelerators. Reported funding is YC S24 seed (Sept 2024).
