About Dover Microsystems

Dover Microsystems licensed CoreGuard, a hardware security design that sits beside a processor and checks each instruction against security rules, so that memory errors and many software attacks are blocked as they happen rather than found later. It targets embedded and connected devices, including RISC-V cores. Dover was spun out of Draper in 2017, with Draper keeping a minority stake, and CoreGuard was announced that October. Qualcomm Ventures was among its early investors. Its current trading status could not be confirmed.

Dover Microsystems was founded in 2017 and is based in Waltham, MA, United States. It is listed under ASICs, Edge Computing.

What Dover Microsystems works on

ASICs

An ASIC, or application-specific integrated circuit, is a chip designed to do one job or a narrow set of jobs. Its circuits are fixed when the chip is made. A CPU can run any program; an ASIC does what it was designed for and nothing else.

Edge Computing

Edge computing means processing data close to where it is produced, on a device or a nearby server, instead of sending everything to a distant cloud data center. In chip terms, edge processors are small, low-power chips that run software and AI models inside phones, cameras, cars and sensors.
