An ASIC is a chip made for one customer's specific purpose, and Faraday helps clients take such a design from specification through to the layout data sent to a foundry. Most of its revenue comes from royalties on chips it has designed for customers. It was founded in 1993 as a spin-off from United Microelectronics Corporation and is based in Hsinchu Science Park, Taiwan.

Custom Silicon
