About GrAI Matter Labs

GrAI Matter Labs developed NeuronFlow, a neuromorphic processor design that does work only on data that has changed, an approach borrowed from how brains handle signals, to run AI at low power on edge devices such as cameras. Its GrAI VIP chip was aimed at vision and audio. Snap Inc. acquired the company in 2023, so it no longer appears to sell chips as an independent business.

GrAI Matter Labs was founded in 2016 and is based in Paris, France. It is listed under Neuromorphic Computing, Edge Computing.

What GrAI Matter Labs works on

Neuromorphic Computing

Neuromorphic computing builds chips that copy some features of the brain. Instead of a central processor and separate memory, a neuromorphic chip has many small units that act like neurons, each with its own local memory, joined by connections that act like synapses.

Edge Computing

Edge computing means processing data close to where it is produced, on a device or a nearby server, instead of sending everything to a distant cloud data center. In chip terms, edge processors are small, low-power chips that run software and AI models inside phones, cameras, cars and sensors.
