About Hyperstone
Hyperstone designs controllers for NAND flash memory, the chips that sit between a device and its flash storage and handle error correction, wear levelling and data integrity. It is a fabless company, meaning it designs the chips and leaves manufacturing to others, and it focuses on industrial and embedded storage rather than consumer drives. Hyperstone was founded in 1990 and is based in Konstanz, Germany. It was owned by CML Microsystems from 2003 and was acquired by the Swiss storage maker Swissbit around the turn of 2020 and 2021.

What Hyperstone works on
ASICs
An ASIC, or application-specific integrated circuit, is a chip designed to do one job or a narrow set of jobs. Its circuits are fixed when the chip is made. A CPU can run any program; an ASIC does what it was designed for and nothing else.
Memory & Storage
Memory and storage hold the data that processors work on. Memory such as DRAM is fast and loses its contents when power is removed. Storage such as flash (NAND) is slower, cheaper per bit and keeps data without power.
