About Kelvin Quantum

University of Glasgow spin-out that designs ultra-low-temperature ASICs and FPGA-based control electronics, with packaging and PCBs, to sit inside the cryogenic environment of a quantum computer and reduce wiring heat load to the processor. Incorporated on 23 May 2025 and selected for the third cohort of the ChipStartUK programme run by Silicon Catalyst.UK; as of August 2026 it was exploring Taiwan foundry and packaging partners and had not disclosed funding.

Kelvin Quantum was founded in 2025 and is based in Glasgow, United Kingdom. It is listed under Quantum Computing, Custom Silicon.

What Kelvin Quantum works on

Quantum Computing

A quantum computer is a machine that uses the rules of quantum physics to process information. Its basic unit is the qubit. A classical bit is either 0 or 1. A qubit can be in a superposition, a state that combines both, and its measured result is probabilistic.

Custom Silicon

Custom silicon means a company designs its own chips for its own products or data centers instead of buying standard parts. The chip is made by a foundry such as TSMC, but the design belongs to the customer.
