About Pilot Photonics
Pilot Photonics makes lasers and optical comb sources for fiber networks and data centers. An optical comb is a laser that emits many evenly spaced wavelengths at once from a single device, so one source can replace many separate lasers. The company uses a gain-switched approach and builds monolithic III-V photonic chips. Its products include tunable lasers, an integrated comb laser assembly and ExCELS, an external laser source with up to 16 wavelength channels. Target uses include coherent transceivers, co-packaged optics, FMCW LiDAR and satellite communications. The company is described as a Dublin City University spinout.
Pilot Photonics was founded in 2011 and is based in Dublin, Ireland. It is listed under Photonic Computing. Reported funding is EU funding (2025).
