About BluGlass
BluGlass develops gallium nitride laser diodes using its proprietary remote plasma chemical vapour deposition process, which grows crystal layers at lower temperatures than conventional methods. It sells lasers for industrial, defense, quantum, biotech and scientific uses, and also offers foundry services. Its link to compute is as a source of compound semiconductor lasers rather than processors. The company is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange as BLG and has its head office in Silverwater, Sydney.
BluGlass was founded in 2005 and is based in Sydney, NSW, Australia. It is listed under Photonic Computing, Custom Silicon. Its shares trade as BLG.AX on ASX.

What BluGlass works on
Photonic Computing
Photonic computing uses light instead of electricity to carry or process information. Photons have no charge, so light in a waveguide does not cause the resistive heating that current in a wire does, though lasers and modulators still use power, and many wavelengths can share one waveguide. The industry has two quite different parts: moving data with light, and computing with light.
Custom Silicon
Custom silicon means a company designs its own chips for its own products or data centers instead of buying standard parts. The chip is made by a foundry such as TSMC, but the design belongs to the customer.
