About planqc

planqc builds neutral-atom quantum computers, which use individual uncharged atoms held in place by focused laser beams as qubits. Its systems can be run on premises, through the cloud or integrated with high-performance computing centres. The company also develops MAQCS, a multicore atomic quantum computing system. planqc was founded in 2022 by the quantum physicists Glaetzle, Blatt and Zeiher as a spin-off from the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics. It is based in Garching near Munich, Germany, and is the first startup of Munich Quantum Valley.

planqc was founded in 2022 and is based in Munich, Germany. It is listed under Quantum Computing. Reported funding is €50M Series A (2024, CATRON/DTCF); €21M LRZ + €29M DLR government contracts.

What planqc works on

Quantum Computing

A quantum computer is a machine that uses the rules of quantum physics to process information. Its basic unit is the qubit. A classical bit is either 0 or 1. A qubit can be in a superposition, a state that combines both, and its measured result is probabilistic.
