About Siltronic
Siltronic produces ultra-pure silicon wafers, the base material on which most semiconductors are made, including 300mm wafers for advanced logic and memory chips. It is one of the main wafer suppliers to chipmakers worldwide, so it sits at the start of the compute supply chain. It operates wafer plants in Germany and Singapore, including a large 300mm fab in Freiberg. The company is headquartered in Munich and grew out of the silicon activities of Wacker Chemie.
Siltronic was founded in 1953 and is based in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It is listed under ASICs, Custom Silicon. Its shares trade as SSLLF on OTC.

What Siltronic works on
ASICs
An ASIC, or application-specific integrated circuit, is a chip designed to do one job or a narrow set of jobs. Its circuits are fixed when the chip is made. A CPU can run any program; an ASIC does what it was designed for and nothing else.
Custom Silicon
Custom silicon means a company designs its own chips for its own products or data centers instead of buying standard parts. The chip is made by a foundry such as TSMC, but the design belongs to the customer.
