About Tata Electronics
Tata Electronics is the Tata Group company building India's first large commercial semiconductor supply chain. Its plans include a wafer fabrication plant at Dholera in Gujarat, built with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation, and an assembly and test plant at Jagiroad in Assam. A fab turns silicon wafers into chips, while assembly and test packages and checks them. The foundation stones for both sites were laid in March 2024, and the Dholera fab is planned at up to 50,000 wafers per month.
Tata Electronics was founded in 2020 and is based in Mumbai, India. It is listed under ASICs, Custom Silicon. Reported funding is $10B+ investment.

What Tata Electronics works on
ASICs
An ASIC, or application-specific integrated circuit, is a chip designed to do one job or a narrow set of jobs. Its circuits are fixed when the chip is made. A CPU can run any program; an ASIC does what it was designed for and nothing else.
Custom Silicon
Custom silicon means a company designs its own chips for its own products or data centers instead of buying standard parts. The chip is made by a foundry such as TSMC, but the design belongs to the customer.
