About Samsung Foundry
Samsung Foundry is the contract chip manufacturing business of Samsung Electronics, making chips designed by other companies. It offers FinFET processes down to 4nm and a 3nm process using gate-all-around (GAA) transistors, a design in which the gate surrounds the channel on all sides to control current more tightly than older fin-shaped transistors. It also provides 2.5D and 3D packaging and a design support program called SAFE. Samsung Electronics lists a 2nm process as reaching mass production in 2025. The parent company is based in Suwon, South Korea.
