About MagnaChip Semiconductor
MagnaChip Semiconductor designs and sells analog and power semiconductors, meaning chips that switch and regulate electrical power in products such as appliances, vehicles and industrial equipment. It has historically also made display driver chips, which control the pixels in screens, but the company has been moving toward a power-focused product line. It operates manufacturing in South Korea and sells mainly to electronics makers in Asia. It is a power and display chip supplier, not a maker of processors or AI accelerators.
MagnaChip Semiconductor was founded in 2004 and is based in Seoul, South Korea. It is listed under Custom Silicon, ASICs. Its shares trade as MX on NYSE.

What MagnaChip Semiconductor works on
Custom Silicon
Custom silicon means a company designs its own chips for its own products or data centers instead of buying standard parts. The chip is made by a foundry such as TSMC, but the design belongs to the customer.
ASICs
An ASIC, or application-specific integrated circuit, is a chip designed to do one job or a narrow set of jobs. Its circuits are fixed when the chip is made. A CPU can run any program; an ASIC does what it was designed for and nothing else.
