About SK Hynix
SK hynix is a South Korean memory chipmaker that produces DRAM, NAND flash and high bandwidth memory (HBM). HBM is stacked DRAM placed next to AI accelerators, and the company has supplied HBM3 and HBM3E for NVIDIA GPUs. It makes its own memory and sells it to accelerator vendors, server makers and device manufacturers. The company traces its origins to Hyundai Electronics Industries, founded in 1983, and has been part of SK Group since 2012.
SK Hynix was founded in 1983 and is based in Icheon, Gyeonggi, South Korea. It is listed under ASICs, Custom Silicon, Memory & Storage. Its shares trade as 000660.KS on KRX.

What SK Hynix works on
ASICs
An ASIC, or application-specific integrated circuit, is a chip designed to do one job or a narrow set of jobs. Its circuits are fixed when the chip is made. A CPU can run any program; an ASIC does what it was designed for and nothing else.
Custom Silicon
Custom silicon means a company designs its own chips for its own products or data centers instead of buying standard parts. The chip is made by a foundry such as TSMC, but the design belongs to the customer.
Memory & Storage
Memory and storage hold the data that processors work on. Memory such as DRAM is fast and loses its contents when power is removed. Storage such as flash (NAND) is slower, cheaper per bit and keeps data without power.
