About Siemens EDA
Siemens EDA is the electronic design automation division of Siemens, not an independent company. It sells software used to design, verify and manufacture chips and circuit boards, including Calibre for chip layout verification, Questa and ModelSim for simulation, and Veloce hardware emulators that test chip designs before manufacture. It also offers PCB design tools. The division was formerly Mentor Graphics, founded in 1981 and acquired by Siemens for $4.5 billion in a deal that closed in March 2017. It took the Siemens EDA name in January 2021.
