About Dialog Semiconductor (now Renesas)
Dialog Semiconductor designed mixed-signal chips, mainly power management ICs that control how battery power is distributed inside a device, plus audio and connectivity parts for mobile and IoT products. It began in May 1985 as IMP (UK) Limited and operated from Reading in the United Kingdom, with a large German presence. Apple was its dominant customer, buying its power management chips for iPhone, iPad and Watch since 2007. Renesas completed its acquisition of Dialog in August 2021, and Dialog now operates as a Renesas subsidiary.
Dialog Semiconductor (now Renesas) was founded in 1985 and is based in Reading, United Kingdom. It is listed under Custom Silicon, ASICs.

What Dialog Semiconductor (now Renesas) works on
Custom Silicon
Custom silicon means a company designs its own chips for its own products or data centers instead of buying standard parts. The chip is made by a foundry such as TSMC, but the design belongs to the customer.
ASICs
An ASIC, or application-specific integrated circuit, is a chip designed to do one job or a narrow set of jobs. Its circuits are fixed when the chip is made. A CPU can run any program; an ASIC does what it was designed for and nothing else.
