About CAES
CAES makes radio frequency electronics for defense and space, and it is now owned by Honeywell. Radio frequency parts handle the radar and communications signals that military platforms send and receive. Its technology is used on programs such as the F-35, the EA-18G and the AMRAAM missile. Honeywell completed its purchase of CAES from the private equity firm Advent International in September 2024 for about 1.9 billion dollars in cash. At the time, CAES had about 2,200 employees.

FPGAs
An FPGA, or field-programmable gate array, is a chip whose internal wiring can be changed after it is made. It contains a grid of small logic blocks, memory blocks and programmable connections. Loading a new configuration file, called a bitstream, turns it into a different digital circuit.
